Nachhaltigkeit und das konstante Bestreben, besser zu werden, ziehen sich durch alle Aktivitäten und Abläufe des größten Wald- eigentümers Schwedens: SCA. Eigene, stetig wachsenden Wälder wirken dem Klimawandel entgegen und nachhaltige Produkte ersetzen solche, die aus fossilemMaterial gefertigt werden. Nach- haltigkeit bedeutet für das Unternehmen auch, effiziente Industrie- zweige und Transportlösungen zu bieten. SCA besitzt 2,6 Millionen Hektar Waldgebiet in Nordschweden, eine Fläche, die fast so groß ist wie Belgien. Das Nettowachstum dieser Wälder bindet jährlich vier Millionen Tonnen Kohlendioxid (CO 2 ). Gleichzeitig belaufen sich die gesamten Kohlendioxidemis- sionen aus fossilen Quellen des Unternehmens von der Industrie über Rohmaterial bis zum Transport auf eine halbe Million Ton- nen pro Jahr. Das bedeutet, dass die Wälder SCAs achtmal mehr Kohlendioxid binden als das Unternehmen verursacht. Fossile Brennstoffe ersetzen Nachhaltige Produkte von SCA, bei denen der Wald der wichtigste Rohstoff ist, ersetzen zunehmend jene, die aus fossilen Materialien gefertigt wurden und einen größeren CO 2 -Fußabdruck aufweisen. Sustainability and the constant endeavor to be ever better permeate all activities and operations throughout the biggest forest owner of Sweden: SCA. These private, continually growing forests counteract climate change and sustainable products replace those products made from fossil materials. The company’s sustainability work is also about offering efficient industries and transportation solutions. SCA owns 2.6 million hectares of forestland in northern Sweden, an area almost as large as Belgium. The net growth of these forests binds four million tons of carbon dioxide every year. At the same time, the company’s total emissions of car- bon dioxide from fossil sources amount to half a million tons a year counting everything from industries to raw material and transportation. This means that SCA’s forests bind eight times as much carbon dioxide as its business operations generate. Replacing forest fuels Sustainable products by SCA, where the forest is the most im- portant raw material, are also replacing products made from fossil material which have a bigger carbon footprint.
