Those sailing trips on the open sea or visiting Kiel Week was so exciting! I am a true Hamburg boy, raised in Altona near the Elbe River. The events on the river and at the harbour have made a lasting impression on me. In hindsight, it is not surprising that those various impressions and experi- ences had a decisive influence on my career decision. Being a Naval Accountant and working in my home country as well as abroad has always been very rewarding for me and I have made a lot of connections within the maritime world. I have now found my homeport at Hafen Hamburg Marketing and I am particularly committed to good relationship with people and companies with the metropolitan area of Hamburg. This is also true for the PORT OF KIEL because our two cities are connected strongly. I am happy about the good working relations and joint activities between our two Marketing organisations. The entire economic region of Hamburg – Schleswig-Holstein profits from these two powerful ports shaping and pushing our country. To me, it is still fascinating to visit Kiel Week or do a trip on the Kiel fjord. Kiel is a special city and the port is a spe- cial part of it. Axel Mattern
