Als eine der führenden Fährreedereien mit europaweit mehr als 50 Schiffen betreibt DFDS acht Passagierrouten in Nord- und Ostsee und trägt im elften Jahr in Folge den Titel „Europas beste Reederei“ und erhielt zum siebten Mal den „World Travel Award“ als weltbeste Fährreederei. Nicht zu vergessen die Ernennung zum „Green Shipowner of the Year“ und die Verleihung des „Environ- mental Performance Award“ im Jahr 2014 in Anerkennung der Vielzahl von Initiativen in den letzten Jahren sowie des erhebli- chen finanziellen Einsatzes zur Verbesserung der Ökobilanz der DFDS-Flotte. Die Reederei hat bereits frühzeitig in die Reduzie- rung von Schwefelemissionen investiert und war maßgeblich an der Entwicklung der Scrubber-Technologie beteiligt. Bereits 2010 wurde ein Schiff der DFDS-Flotte, als erste Fähre im Linienverkehr überhaupt, als Pilotprojekt mit einem Scrubber ausgerüstet, der 200 Tonnen Emissionen pro Tag auf 0,1 Prozent SO x und um 80 Prozent anderer Partikel reinigen konnte. As one of the leading ferry companies with more than fifty ships in operation across Europe, DFDS serves eight pas- senger routes in the North Sea and Baltic Sea. It has been awarded the title “Europe’s best shipping company” for the eleventh time in a row and received the “World Travel Award” as the world’s best ferry company for the seventh time. Not to forget the nomination as “Green Ship Owner of the Year” and the “Environmental Performance Award” in 2014 which acknowledge the great number of initiatives in the past couple of years as well as the significant financial investment into the improvement of the DFDS fleet’s eco- balance. The shipping company invested into the reduction of sulphur emissions at a very early stage and was substanti- ally involved into the development of the scrubber technolo- gy.
